The New Hunger (Warm Bodies 0.5)

The New Hunger (Warm Bodies, #0.5)
The New Hunger (Warm Bodies 0.5)

Julie Grigio drives with her parents through the crumbling wastelands of America - a nightmarish family road trip in search of a new home.

A few hundred miles away, Nora Greene finds herself the reluctant, terrified guardian of her younger brother when her parents abandon them in the not-quite-empty ruins of Seattle.

In the darkness of a forest, a dead man in a red tie opens his eyes. With no memory of who or what he is, he must unravel the grim mystery of his existence - right after he learns how to think, how to walk, and how to satisfy the monster howling in his belly...

Two warped families and a lonely monster. Unknown to any of them, their paths are set to cross in a startling encounter that will change the course of their lives - or deaths - forever."  - from Goodreads

I'm a big fan of Isaac Marion. I couldn't wait to read this book and so glad that it was available in paperback and I bought it online.

So the book gives three different perspectives of different people or in other words two groups of people and a zombie. The one group of people is a mother and father and daughter and the second group of people is a sister and brother. In both groups the youngest is pretty young and barely understand what is happening which makes for a very sad and harsh reality if something like this could exist. I felt very troubled that a 12 year old was having to kill people her age and a 7 year old boy didn't understand many things like what "Rich" meant when using it in the term of rich people. These children are growing up in a world where nothing is what we would think it would be. As for the zombie, I felt a little sad for him for he didn't understand what was happening himself and didn't really like the fact that he was dead but not really. Each group made gives you something to think about and even feel empathy for the world they are now in.

Kudos to Marion for creating a great intro book to one that I already love.
Also, spoiler, pretty sure we get to meet 2 of the zombies we grow to love in Warm Bodies. Oh and this book does not end in a positive note. But what book would when there are zombies eating people?

5 out of 5 monkey brains
